Covering 34 hectares of forest in the buffer zone to the National Park, we consider our forest very special and intend to keep it that way. Bordered on two sides by rivers, there are paths covering only a fraction of it but you are given free rein to explore.
Whether you want a short 15 min stroll into the woods or a more strenuous hike to the swimming pools in the river the choice is yours. Always keep an eye open for the beautiful Knysna Lourie which is easiest spotted when flying with it’s flash of magenta wing.
The forest is full of wildlife but many of the animals are shy and retiring so you have to be lucky to see them. We have set up our wildlife cameras in the forest to capture those animals that keep their distance from humans, catch up with the latest pictures on our blog.

| Driving out from Knysna (heading west towards George), you turn right on to the Rheenendal Road, 2.1km after crossing the Knysna River near the Phantom Pass signs. |  |
| Driving from Sedgefield/George towards Knysna (heading east), drive 14 kms out of Sedgefield and then turn left on to the Rheenendal Road. It is on quite a steep downhill just after a right bend & before the next left bend on the road. |  |

Drive 9.3 kms from the main turn-off from the N2 (about 10 minutes), looking out for the Fern Gully Restaurant on the left. |

After reaching the Fern Gully, turn left on to “Highway Wes” and follow the map below – look out for the first Maradadi sign (middle picture below) and then the arrow pointing where to turn off (below, right)
